Kathie Lee Gifford doesn’t understand why the LGBTQIA+ community uses so many letters to identify itself. “I don’t even know how many letters there are now. They’ve really got to stop with that. We know what you mean, you know?” the former “Today” show fourth hour host said.
“I’m not telling anybody how to live their life. I never have,” she continued. “I just know what Jesus said: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Love God first.”
Gifford made the comment during an appearance on the “Tomi Lahren Is Fearless” podcast, after the host touched on actor Shia LaBeouf’s recent “tough times,” specifically an interview in which the “Even Stevens” actor admitted he’s afraid of “big gay people” following his two arrests in New Orleans during Mardi Gras week.
He added: “I know I’m f—ing deep off into the Bible. I know what the Bible says … about homosexuality.”
Lahren proceeded to ask Gifford, a vocal Christian, how she reconciles both her religion and her support for the LGBT community.
“That one is a four-letter word, and it’s called L-O-V-E, love,” she replied, noting that she has “had as many or more gay friends than straight friends.”
The former “Live With Regis and Kathie Lee” morning TV personality also told Lahren that she feels encouraged by God to live without judgement.
“Kathie, you will be too busy loving people that you disagree with to judge them,” she said. “I don’t judge anybody. That’s God’s business.”
